Virgin Beach Guide
Virgin Beach: Bali's Hidden Paradise Guide
Escape the crowds and discover the pristine beauty of Virgin Beach, also known as Pasir Putih or White Sand Beach. Located in the Karangasem Regency of East Bali, this secluded gem offers a tranquil escape with its soft white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and lush green hills as a backdrop. It's the perfect place to relax, swim, snorkel, and soak up the sun in a more peaceful setting than the more popular beaches in South Bali. Unlike some of Bali's more developed beaches, Virgin Beach has retained its natural charm. While there are a few small warungs (local restaurants) offering food and drinks, the beach remains relatively untouched. This contributes to its serene atmosphere and makes it a favorite among those seeking a more authentic Balinese beach experience. The calm waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling, allowing you to explore the vibrant coral reefs and marine life just offshore. Activities at Virgin Beach revolve around relaxation and enjoying the natural beauty. You can rent a sun lounger and umbrella, swim in the clear waters, snorkel to discover the underwater world, or simply relax on the sand and soak up the sun. The warungs offer a variety of Indonesian dishes, including fresh seafood grilled right on the beach. Enjoy a delicious meal with your toes in the sand while watching the waves roll in.
Transportation
The best way to get to Virgin Beach is by renting a scooter or hiring a private car or taxi. From Candidasa, it's about a 20-30 minute drive. From other areas like Ubud or Seminyak, the journey will take longer, around 1.5 to 2.5 hours. The road leading to the beach is relatively well-maintained, but be prepared for some winding sections. Parking is available near the beach.
